Just my two cents on my perception on it all.
I feel pretty good about Archie, I understand the mechanics of the fight better. Special thanks to Stunad who took a moment to explain the arrow thingy to everyone, made total sense that I didn't have to run way out. I think as we clean it up we will get better. Also I think people should be using valor to upgrade their gear and to run LFGs for possible upgrades. We all need to be in tip top shape and learn the fight for our toons so we can best accomplish it. We should not need Bel to shout run or Death to say group up. Those need to be second nature on the fight, so it is something we mastered. Even running it on LFR and practicing can't hurt. Well I will be pugging it and running it on LFR for next few weeks since I will not be able to raid with you all and don't want to fall too far behind.
As far as Soc, well I am pretty bad at it. I still don't have the grasps of all the mechanics, but that is on me to learn. When I return, I will be better. Right now I am pretty bad, if anyone has any pointers let me know.
It's lack of dps that is causing the fail on that fight. It happens every tier when we have trouble with a boss. And I say we don't have enough dps and then somebody, who is obviously smarter than me, says the dps is fine and we just need to learn the fight. I've said it a million times, big dps kills bosses. It is the best tank mitigation, it's the best mana regen, and it's the best interrupt. Dead bosses don't need to be tanked or interrupted...When half the raid is being carried, you have a problem. Learn your classes, specs, rotations...etc. You're all plenty geared that 30k dps has no excuse.
That being said, I went on a rant a while back about people not learning the fights. And people STILL DONT KNOW THIS FIGHT!!!
But I digress.
I appreciate the feedback Death. And Stu I agree, I mean when you asked me about the trinket, I had a total facepalm moment. I was using the other trinket for higher ilevel for LFG and forgot to use my class trinket. I know I need to work on maintaining 60k dps on her and any feedback hints..etc anyone can give me is much appreciated!
Yes, we are a casual guild.
But as I see it, and I know I'm not the only one, Phoenix stands a little apart from the 'casual' label. We're obviously a long way from hardcore, but we've always targeted a goal above normal modes. So don't let yourself, or anyone else, use 'casual' as an excuse.
Heroic Archie is the end of what has been a frustrating and fun endeavor. We're almost there. Here are the areas of concern:
Fight Mechanics: PART 1 – HFC dropped in June of last year. It’s been almost 9 months. It’s a problem if anyone doesn’t understand the fight mechanics. Even in Heroic mode. PART 2 – Once you understand how the fight works, you need to deal with the mechanics properly. Fulfilling these two parts, results in FAR fewer deaths and overall damage taken. This makes any fight a million times easier.
Damage: The group average item level is 723. That is fine for Heroic Archie, but our numbers aren’t. All DPS should be pulling at least 50k, preferably 60k plus. Anyone falling below this range is hurting the group. Look into your gear/talents/class mechanics. See if there’s anything off or missing. Use the internet. There are many resources out there for this very thing. If none of that works, ask for help.
Healing: For the most part, we’re doing alright here, but anything under 40k is low. Like the DPS, if you’re falling into this range, look into it. Find out what you can do to improve.
I’m not pointing fingers or calling out names. That isn’t my intent here. I believe this is something we can pull off, we just need to focus a little more. Death is taking next week off. This may be a very good time for everyone to see what they can do better.
As a "casual" raider I am trying my hardest to keep up with the group. I'm not sure how much more dps I can squeeze out of my casual toon. I'm just saying I'm giving it all I got, I'm not sure how much longer I can keep it together.
I do like the color green and I do find myself drawn to it at times during the fight, but I will try to stay focused in the future.
That being said, I think we can get this boss down If people, and you know who you are, can squeeze a little more dps out of their toon's, and try to execute the mechanics to the best of your ability.
It's nice to have a larger group for this boss, but If people can't get their head around this fight, they may have to sit.
Just my 2 cents.
